Beach walking is not reserved just for the older set!

Everyone in the family or group, including pets in many areas, can take a leisurely walk on the beach.

Walking on the beach gives you a chance to unwind and talk about what has been happening as well as planning on what may happen.

Depending on the mood and where the sun is in sky, you may decide either to walk toward or away from sun. Although the sun is going down in the west, the more relaxed part of the beach may lead you to the east for your walking.

Likewise, if you are taking a stroll with someone and you have some young ones along with you, it can be amazing at how much energy they can use running around you, running up ahead and back, etc.

Although you may not get the cardiovascular benefits of someone who is going faster, such as with jogging or running, you still benefit from increased circulation as you walk the beach.

If you expect the sun to come up or down, or if rain or fog may head to the beach, or if a temperature change is expected, be sure to take along some extra clothing or wear some extra layers so that you can easily accommodate the changes while continuing to enjoy your jaunt on the beach.

Please be aware that property rights vary by locality, and while you may be able to comfortably walk on the shore in one area, you may be restricted in other areas. Check with the locals to be sure you know you are going to be on publicly accessible beach. Property owners in some areas have or are working to restrict access to shoreline they consider to part of their property. Some areas make a distinction between walking along a beach, which may be permissible, and the act of not moving along, or loitering as some would call it.
