Beach Activities

Parasailing is like becoming a human kite.

Parasailing is a very popular activity where the rider is put into a harness which is attached to a long towrope. A boat, or sometimes a land vehicle, then reaches a speed at which the parasail rises, carrying the rider up and away. If the speed increases, the parasail will rise, and likewise, the parasail will fall as speed decreases.

Signals are coordinated between the crews on the boat and the land. Upon the signal, the boat takes off and the rider is usually asked to move forward, sometimes at a run, towards the boat that will be pulling the parasail. The parasail then follows the boat, but at an elevated position.

The parasail can be controlled by the rider pulling on the correct ropes on the side that the rider wants to turn to.

If landing on the beach, the boat controls the slowing motion until the parasail lands on the beach. And if in the water, the boat will slow to allow the parasail to drop into the water.

Some parasailing can be performed off the back of the boat that will be performing the towing. Here the rider takes off from the back and is reeled back in as the ride comes to a close.

Floatable rigid chairs are also used by some parasailing establishments.

Parasailing can be very dangerous. Be sure to play it safe!
