Caribbean Beaches

The World's Most Beautiful Beaches

The Caribbean is known for islands and the many beautiful beaches which accompany them.

It is a natural to think of the Caribbean when you want to think of visiting beaches.

When Christopher Columbus started his exploration of the New World in 1492, he found the beautiful Caribbean with its Indian inhabitants, whose people are named by the fact that he thought he had reached Asia. The islands were thus named the Indies.

There is a lot of history as colonial powers and pirates fought for control of the islands, or for treasure to be found in the Caribbean. English, Spanish, French, and Dutch explorers, settlers, and sailors are part of its history.

The Caribbean is now a series of beautiful destinations for a variety of beaches stretching from the Greater Antilles in the north down through the Lesser Antilles in the east.
