Costa Rica is a long, narrow county in Central America which has beautiful beaches along both the Pacific and the Caribbean. It has over 1000 miles of coastline with a variety of beach materials ranging from white sand on the Caribbean beaches to the darker materials which are volcanic in origin on the Pacific beaches. Some of the beaches in Costa Rica include Dominical, Malpaís,
Manuel Antonio Beach, Playa Flamingo, Playa Grande, Playa Pavones, and
Punta Uva. The province of Limon occupies the entire Caribbean coastline for Costa Rica. On the Pacific coast, the province of Guanacaste is in the north and Puntarenas is in the mid and southern sections. The coast of Guanacaste is also known as the Golden Coast. The other four provinces do not touch the coastlines.
