Italy is a country in southern Europe which consists of a long peninsula that extends into the Mediterranean, includes the islands of Siciliy and Sardinia, and has almost 5,000 miles of coastline.

The Ligurian Sea is on the shores of northwest Italy. The Tyrrhenian Sea is on the coast of most of western Italy. The Ionian Sea is below the bottom of the boot of Italy. The Adriatic Sea is on the eastern shores of Italy.

The island of Sardinia is off the western coast of Italy. The Tyrrhenian Sea is to the east and the Mediterranean Sea is to the east. The three Maddalena islands are in the Strait of Bonifaciao off the north coast of Sardinia. The islands of San Pietro and Sant' Antioco are off the southwest coast of Sardinia and in the Mediterranean. The island of Asinari is off the northwest coast of Sardinia in the Gulf of Asinari. The island of Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, is off the west coast of the boot of Italy. The Tyrrhenian Sea is on the north coast. The Mediterranean Sea is to the southwest. The Gulf of Catania is to the east. The Messina Strait separates the eastern tip of Sicily from the mainland of Italy.
