Healthy beaches refers to a plan by an authority, such as a state or local government, to provide a plan for making and then maintaining a healthy environment on a beach. Healthy beaches also refers to a system of grading beaches to see how they measure up against standards designed so as to help inform visitors and potential visitors on the healthiness of a beach. Why is the health of beaches being measured? It is being measured because there have been, and still are, many beaches where there are dangers in the sand itself going to the beach, such as glass and other dangerous debris, which are potentially dangerous to visitors of the beach along the water. Many waters also have pollution and microbial life, which although not seen, that can pose very dangerous risks to visitors to the beach. Therefore, programs and rating systems have been devised to help measure and control the health of individual beaches.
