California has beaches on its entire western boundary on the Pacific Ocean and its many bays. There are over a thousand miles of shoreline, over 100 cities along the coast, and over 400 beaches. Beaches vary widely from one end of the state to the other end.

Los Angeles County

Beaches areas in Los Angeles County include Abalone Cove Beach, Alamitos Bay Beach, Belmont Shore, Cabrillo Beach, Corral State Beach, Dockweiler State Beach, El Matador State Beach, El Pescador State Beach, El Porto Beach, El Segundo Beach, Escondido Beach, Hermosa City Beach, La Piedra State Beach, Las Tunas State Beach, Leo Carrillo State Beach, Long Beach City Beach, Malibu, Manhattan State Beach, Nicholas Canyon County Beach, Playa del Rey, Point Dume State Beach, Redondo State Beach, Royal Palms State Beach, Santa Monica State Beach, Topanga State Beach, Torrance County Beach, Venice City Beach, Will Rogers State Beach, and Zuma Beach County Park. On Catalina Island you'll find Avalon Bay, Ben Westin Beach, Crescent Beach, Descanso Beach, Isthmus Cove, Little Harbor, Parson's Landing, Pebbly Beach, and Two Harbors.

Orange County

Some beach areas in Orange County include Balboa Beach, Bolsa Chica State Beach, Capistrano Beach, China Cove, Corona Del Mar State Beach, Crystal Cove State Park, Doheny State Beach, Huntington State Beach, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Rocky Point, San Clemente State Beach, Santa Ana River County Beach, Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, and Surfside Beach.

San Diego County

San Diego County has many beaches along its Pacific Coast including Cardiff State Beach, Carlsbad State Beach, Grandview Beach, Coronado City Beach, Del Mar City Beach, Harbor Beach, Imperial Beach, La Jolla Shores Beach, Leucadia State Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach Park, Oceanside City Beach, Pacific Beach, Palisade Park, San Elijo State Beach, San Onofre State Beach, Tide Beach Park, and Torrey Pines State Beach.

Santa Barbara County

Santa Barbara has over a hundred miles of coastline. Beach areas in Santa Barbara County include Arroyo Burro Beach County Park, Butterfly Beach, Carpinteria State Beach, El Capitan State Beach, Goleta Beach County Park, Hammonds Beach, Isla Vista Beach, Miramar Beach, Refugio State Beach, Rincon Beach County Park, and Santa Barbara.

West Marin County

West Marin County has several coastal and historic locales including Inverness, Marshall, Muir Beach, Olema, Point Reyes, Stinson Beach, and Tomales.

Ventura County
