The United States has over 12,000 miles of coastline and many miles of very beautiful beaches. Starting at the westerm end of the Gulf of Mexico and heading east, there are the states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Florida has three long coast sections: east coast or Atlantic seaboard, northwest or panhandle, and west coast Heading up the Atlantic coast from Florida, there are the states of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. Starting along the Pacific Ocean, from the south to the north, there are the states of California, Oregon, and Washington. The state of Hawaii is in the Pacific Ocean. Alaska is between the Pacific Ocean and the Arctic Ocean. Information on states which are not along the major coasts include Indiana and Vermont. Others will be added later.
